Women's cricket is under the purview of the SLC since November 2006.
At least eight clubs are now actively playing the game. These teams took part in the first domestic women's limited over cricket tournament organised by the SLC. The teams were:
- Colombo Cricket Club Women
- Colts Cricket Club Women
- Kandyan Ladies Cricket Club
- Moratuwa Sports Club Women
- Nittabuwa Ladies
- Palink School of Cricket
- Pushpadana Ladies
- Slimline Sport Club Women
Slimline Sports Club emerged champions when they beat Colombo Cricket Club in the final.
Sri Lanka took part in the Asia Cup 2006 and ended runners-up.
