Profile
Murtaza Hussain is an off-spin bowler who has played first-class cricket in Pakistan since 1990, and has even played for Pakistan A. He has played club cricket in England and recently gained his British passport, qualifying to play for England. He had played for the second XIs at Derbyshire, Middlesex and Surrey before finally making his debut for Surrey's Championship side in September 2007.
Alan Butcher, the Surrey coach, said, "I became aware of Murtaza about two years ago and since that time he has gained English qualification. He has taken over 500 wickets in first-class cricket in Pakistan and he has trained and played some cricket with us in the second team this year. As such, we have registered him for the remainder of this season."
