Runako Morton will lead Leeward Islands in the KFC Cup, West Indies' 50-over domestic competition, in the absence of regular captain Sylvester Joseph, on a sabbatical from competitive cricket. Morton, part of West Indies' squad for the ICC World Twenty20, played only one match in last season's KFC Cup.

Romain Doodnauth, a left-arm spinner, is the only newcomer in a squad which includes Omari Banks, the offspinning allrounder, who made 128 runs and took three wickets in the five matches he played last season.

Leewards play their first match against Jamaica on October 17.

Windward Islands have included uncapped players, Donwell Hector and Nelon Pascal, in their 14-man squad for the tournament. Pascal, a right-arm fast-medium bowler, was in the West Indies Under-19 side which reached the quarter-finals of the World Cup in Sri Lanka last year.

Junior Murray, Hyron Shallow, Kenroy Peters and Dennis George are among those excluded. With Murray omitted Windwards will have to pick either Andre Fletcher or Lyndon James to keep wickets. The team will be led by Rawl Lewis and includes fast bowler Darren Sammy, who took 7 for 66 in his debut Test in Manchester earlier this year. Windwards open the tournament with a match against Guyana on October 16.
