The venue for the 1994 ICC Trophy final, flat and hard pitch makes this a virtual graveyard for bowlers. A new pavilion was built in 2000 and the old structure, situated above the sightscreen, now accommodates the media. The ground underwent a major overhaul to both pavilion and other facilities, and in December 2006 was granted full ODI status by the ICC.
